• Sumud (Arabic: صمود), which translates literally to “steadfastness,” is a Palestinian cultural and political value that emphasizes the endurance of resistance and hope above all else.

Pal Legal's Sumud Sustainer program provides our organization with the resources we need to protect, cultivate, and nurture Sumud among our clients and communities.

Become a Sumud Sustainer and set up a monthly donation to support the Palestine movement for the long-haul.

  • Palestine Legal’s Founding Board Member Michael Ratner inspired us to fiercely demand a better world. After his passing in 2016, we created a fund in his name to support a two-year legal fellowship for young attorneys to gain practical experience in movement lawyering, an approach that Michael embodied. Through this fellowship, we aim to continue Michael’s legacy of using the law in service of the people.

Donate to the fund here to help carry forward Michael’s legacy by sustaining the Michael Ratner Justice Fellowship at Palestine Legal. Watch this tribute video we made honoring Michael’s legacy.

  • IRA giving allows individuals aged 70½ years or older to make tax-free donations directly from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to a qualified nonprofit. This type of gift, known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), can count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) and may reduce your taxable income—without the need to itemize deductions.

  • Plan your giving by making a bequest to Palestine Legal, ensuring that your support for the Palestine solidarity movement lives on!

Including bequests, or gifts of different kinds of assets in your will, is a common way to leave a lasting legacy to a beloved cause, to potentially reduce estate tax burdens, and to ensure the continued use of your assets as long as you need them. You can specify a dollar amount or a percentage of your estate to go to Palestine Legal.

If you are considering including Palestine Legal in your estate plans, we recommend consulting with an attorney or financial advisor to ensure your wishes are legally documented and aligned with your overall estate plan. Please contact Stacey at giving@palestinelegal.org for more details on how to include Palestine Legal in your planned giving. We will keep your inquiries in the strictest confidence.

  • A match challenge involves a generous supporter, or a group of supporters, agreeing to match every donation made within a certain period, usually up to a set amount. A match can double or even triple the amount raised within that period.

Matching campaigns are incredibly effective at inspiring others to give by increasing the impact of each contribution, and showing the kinds of commitments and investments donors are making in Palestine Legal’s work. Match challenges always generate significant donations from people who want to see their gift multiplied!

If you are interested in starting a match campaign, we’d be thrilled to talk to you. Please contact Stacey at giving@palestinelegal.org.
