Lawfare drops bullying lawsuits against SF State

Rather than try to prove its false allegations in court, the Lawfare Project withdrew its claims against San Francisco State in a token settlement on the eve of trial earlier this week.

The Lawfare Project, a right-wing anti-Palestinian organization with an explicit plan to “inflict massive punishments” against critics of Israel, launched its campaign against SF State with a lawsuit in federal court in June 2017. After that lawsuit was dismissed in March 2018, Lawfare filed a second lawsuit in California state court, making similar allegations. Both lawsuits argued that advocacy for Palestinian equality discriminates against Jewish students.

Trump's campus speech order squelches 'free and open debate'

At Palestine Legal, we are all too familiar with the suppression of free speech on campus. Advocacy on behalf of students and scholars who have been silenced because of their support for Palestinian rights makes up the vast majority of our caseload. We have seen universities cancel classes, censor speakers, and ban student groups because they disagreed with their views. Because we experience every day the importance of free speech protections to safeguard dissenting views, we are deeply concerned by Trump’s new order.

Pitzer Votes to Suspend Israel Study Abroad Program, Immediately Vetoed by President

The Pitzer College Council voted 67-28 Thursday to affirm the suspension of the college’s study abroad program with the University of Haifa in Israel, citing Israel’s discriminatory restrictions on entry to Israel based on race and legitimate political speech. The vote was immediately nullified by Pitzer president Melvin Oliver, which is the first time in the College’s 56-year history the administration has vetoed a decision of College Council.

Palestine Legal joins the National Lawyers Guild – Chicago, the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), and the Center for Constitutional Rights in urging the Chicago Bar Association, Catholic Lawyers Guild, and Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois to reconsider the location of a Continuing Legal Education conference in Jerusalem scheduled for the end of March.

Over 30 New York Scholars and Activists Spied on by Former Mossad Agents

Palestine Legal confirmed today that a 2017 attempt to scare New Yorkers believed to support boycotts for Palestinian rights with bogus ‘cease and desist’ letters was the work of ex-Mossad agents. The people targeted by former Israeli intelligence agents with Psy-Group include faculty at Columbia University, New York University, multiple City University of New York (CUNY) campuses as well Black, Jewish, and Palestinian volunteers from groups such as Adalah-NY and Jewish Voice for Peace.
