Palestine Legal Stands in Solidarity with Advisory Board Member Katherine Franke in the Face of Attacks by Columbia University

Palestine Legal issued the following statement in response to law professor and Palestine Legal advisory board member Katherine Franke's announcement regarding the end of her career at Columbia Law School:

Palestine Legal stands with advisory board member Katherine Franke and all Columbia University students, faculty and staff facing unprecedented attacks for their advocacy for Palestinian rights. These attacks expose a fundamental anti-Palestinian bias that has solidified in academia, and that we have been challenging across campuses. Columbia has not only failed in its educational mission by targeting its Palestinian and associated students and faculty for speaking out against a genocide. Its actions are also paving the way for the right wing’s battle against an academy that prioritizes critical thinking, academic freedom, shared governance, and a diverse and engaged student and faculty body. We call on Columbia and all universities to reject this course and to reaffirm these principles that are a critical bulwark against authoritarianism and rising bigotry.
