Solidarity When We Need It Most

At this time of uncertainty and fear amid an unprecedented global health emergency, the Palestine Legal team expresses our solidarity with all who are most affected by this public health crisis.

We know that the most vulnerable among us will be the hardest hit – by the virus itself and by the economic and social repercussions, which promise to be far-reaching. We are especially concerned about the impact on people who are facing health, income and housing insecurity; people under occupation and sanctions; people who are incarcerated; and all those who are further isolated because of their age and health status.

Many of us are specifically worried about the impacts of the virus on Palestine’s most vulnerable – in Gaza, in Israeli prisons, and in refugee camps in exile. We wish the best for our friends and family around the world.

It’s clear that this moment requires more social and political solidarity, even as we experience physical distance, and a collective commitment to protecting and strengthening the most vulnerable among us – in the short and long term. We stand with and support all those organizing for a transformation of our systems towards freedom and justice for all.

We also want you to know that as our own team adjusts to working at home (most of us with our families), we are recalibrating our own work, and reflecting on how this crisis will affect Palestine organizing now and down the line. Please reach out with any legal developments or needs as you adjust your own work for freedom and justice in Palestine and everywhere.

We will strive to be responsive to the evolving needs of the movement for Palestinian rights and will share ways to stay engaged virtually.

Please do what you can to take care of yourselves and your communities. See some resources from partners and allies below!

With love,

The Palestine Legal Team
