Palestine Legal embraces the policy platform #Vision4BlackLives

Palestine Legal emphasizes again our solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives.

We applaud the policy platform for centering domestic policy proposals in the context of global systems of violence, and we join the work to end violence against Black communities in the U.S. and globally. As a reminder of the interconnectedness of our work, the platform recognizes the threat of “[a]nti-BDS bills being passed in states around the country,” and rightly calls them a “threat to the constitutional right to free speech and protest.”  

We also extend our solidarity to the groups now being smeared because they criticized Israeli policies in terms deemed unacceptable by some Israel advocacy organizations. This is again a manifestation of a well-documented pattern: speech that calls for Palestinian freedom is frequently punished for being outside the bounds of acceptable discourse. We reject any distraction that the backlash has caused.
