In 2017, an anti-BDS bill was introduced - and defeated - in the Mississippi legislature.
HB 651 proposed a state-created, publicly available blacklist of for-profit entities that boycott Israel, and would have required the state pension funds to divest from blacklisted entities. The bill also proposed prohibiting the state from contracting with companies that boycott Israel.
On Jan. 31, 2017, HB 651 died in committee.
